Miniatur Wunderland
The world's largest model railway with moving scenes and hidden stories.
Ideal: Ideal for families, trips with children, model worlds, and fun indoor experiences.
The miniature world opened by twin brothers Frederik and Gerrit Braun in 2001 is today the world's largest model railway layout, with more than 16 kilometres of track, over 1,000 trains, and roughly 300,000 figures. Hall lighting shifts from day to night every fifteen minutes and thousands of tiny windows light up individually. At Knuffingen Airport planes actually taxi and take off. Scenes are packed with humour: look closely and you'll find hundreds of small stories — fires, weddings, accidents, and even a nudist beach.
Why go?
- To see one of the world's most impressive miniature worlds
- To explore detailed scenes, trains, and moving systems
- Because it's a fun Hamburg activity even on rainy days
