Łazienki Park

Royal park with the Palace on the Isle and Chopin monument.

Ideal: Ideal for nature, gentle walks, classical music atmosphere, and city park lovers.

This 76-hectare park survives from King Stanisław August Poniatowski's 18th-century summer estate; the Palace on the Isle in the center sits on the water. The original Chopin monument at the entrance was dismantled and melted down by the Germans in 1940; today's statue is a recast copy from 1958. From mid-May through late September, free open-air piano concerts are held beneath the monument every Sunday while people sit on the lawns and listen. Peacocks and red squirrels roam freely through the park.

Why go?

  • For a calm and scenic nature break within Warsaw
  • To see the Chopin monument and historic buildings in the park
  • To slow the pace of a city sightseeing day

Travel tip

It is more enjoyable in fine weather; the park is large, so plan a relaxed walk rather than a quick stop.
