ARoS Art Museum
Aarhus museum with Olafur Eliasson's rainbow rooftop panorama.
Ideal: Good for art, architecture, and city views; also works well for couples.
On the roof of the ten-storey museum that opened in 2004 is Olafur Eliasson's 2011 Your Rainbow Panorama: a 52-metre-diameter circular corridor made entirely of coloured glass, and as you walk inside you see Aarhus in turn through every tone from red to purple. The collection's most talked-about work below is Ron Mueck's Boy — a crouching, five-metre-tall child figure with skin detail rendered as if real.
Why go?
- To see Aarhus from the iconic rainbow panorama
- To explore the contemporary art collection
- To discover Denmark's cultural capital outside Copenhagen
